Resources to assist you during your apprenticeship
The ITA’s Apprenticeship Advisors serve as an extension of the ITA Customer Support team, with the primary responsibility of providing regional support to apprentices and sponsors, creating a positive impact on continuation and completion rates for apprentices in local communities. They are great resources and can help you in your search of a sponsor in different ways. STEP program, created by the BC Construction Association, will help you with your resume, interview, connect with employers, offers mentoring, assistance with ITA registration, financial help for tools and work clothing and more. Call (250) 624-6881 to make an appointment or visit their office at #2 – 437 West 3rd Avenue.
The different trades unions are also a great resources to help you during your apprenticeship. You can contact local unions (contact information available here) or unions that work on a provincial and federal scale (you can find some over there and also by doing a research on Google).
